Privacy Policy
The “in my name” action, including hosting and data collected through actions on any site globally, is managed by Comic Relief on behalf of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty. The Global Call to Action Against Poverty owns the data – it is the Data Controller and Comic Relief is managing the process of collecting and storing the data – it is a Data Processor. Should you wish to know what personal information of yours the Global Call to Action Against Poverty has stored, you can request a copy of it in writing (at the address below) and the Global Call to Action Against Poverty is obligated to deliver that information to you.
For actions taken on a partner NGO site - for example Oxfam GB if you found the action on their site www.oxfam.org.uk – the data for those that opt in to hear more about the campaign will be passed from the Data Controller to Oxfam GB, who will become the new Data Controller of your information.
For actions taken on www.whitebandaction.org and www.inmyname.com, across social media sites and non-partner NGO sites, the Data Controller will remain GCAP.
If you opted to receive more information about “in my name” when submitting your name you may receive email communications from either Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) (for actions on www.whitebandaction.org and www.inmyname.com) or the NGO that hosted the “in my name” action on their site – for example Oxfam GB if you found the action on their site www.oxfam.org.uk.
If you have signed the action through an NGO partner site, then your data will be used, held and can be accessed in accordance with their privacy policy, which will be accessible from their main site. GCAP is not responsible for how the NGO you took action through handles your information after they receive it from GCAP.
“in my name” is a global action supported by a number of different NGOs. GCAP is working with these organisations and personal data is being collected on behalf of GCAP when it isn’t associated with a specific organisation’s site. The data for all interactions is managed securely, and stored in the USA for North American individuals and Europe for individuals from other regions.
If you did not indicate that you want to receive more information your details will be stored safely but you will not be contacted further by any organisation. By adding your details to the action you are making it possible for GCAP to:
Make sure your leaders know you care about poverty
Create overall totals of the number of people taking actions for use in the media
GCAP will not sell or share the information it collects unless you give GCAP permission to do so.
